Lawmen: Bass Reeves: New Western Series to Release in November 2023

The upcoming TV series Lawmen: Bass Reeves, starring David Oyelowo as Bass Reeves, is set to be released on Paramount+ on November 5, 2023. The series is based on the true story of Bass Reeves, the first Black Deputy U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi River.

Reeves was born into slavery in 1838 and escaped to freedom in 1865. After the Civil War, he became a lawman and served for 32 years, capturing over 3,000 criminals. He was known for his bravery and his skill with a gun.

The series will also feature the stories of other Black lawmen who served in the Old West, including Nat Love, Bill Pickett, and Bass Outlaw.

The series is being produced by Taylor Sheridan, who is known for his work on the TV series Yellowstone and 1883. The series is directed by Wayne Kramer, who is known for his work on the films The Cooler and Running Scared.
